Renewable diesel includes R100/R99 and hydrotreated vegetable oil. Hydrotreated vegetable oil is a renewable fuel that is made from recycled vegetable oils, tallow or used cooking oil that goes through a hydrotreating process to produce a cleaner-burning fuel. R100 is a paraffinic fuel that lacks oxygen. That allos the fuel to have better cold flow properties. It's high cetane number allows for a more clean burn.

"Renewable diesel fuel meets the ASTM D975 Diesel Fuel Specification or the EN 15940 Paraffinic Diesel Fuel Specification, has better storage capabilities than biodiesel, and contains less sulfur and ash than petroleum-based diesel fuel which contribute to its lower tailpipe emissions and can be used by fleets as a tool to reach their sustainability goals," says Michael Noonan, vice president of engineering.

The International S13 integrated powertrain is available in the LT, RH, HX and HV series trucks. It has up to 515 horsepower and 1,850 lb.-ft. of torque.

"Given the industry's sustainability targets, International aims to provide customers with various options to support their unique carbon reduction goals," says Chet Cieselski, vice president of national fleets and truck equipment manufacturers. "Our mission at International is to accelerate the impact of sustainable mobility. However, there isn't a one-size-fits-all solution for every customer, so it is crucial that we offer incremental options to help them achieve their individual objectives."

Hydrogen Fuel Cell & BEV Survey
The following survey was sent as a link in an email cover message in February 2023 to the newsletter lists for Overdrive and CCJ. After approximately two weeks, a total of 176 owner-operators under their own authority, 113 owner-operators leased or assigned to a carrier and 82 fleet executives and 36 fleet employees from fleets with 10 or more power units had completed and submitted the questionnaire for a total of 407 qualified responses. Cross-tabulations based on respondent type are provided for each question when applicable.
