The Cummins X15 natural gas engine

Cummins' new X15 natural gas engine will be available on the Peterbilt 579, 567 and 520, the company announced Tuesday. Peterbilt says the engine is optimized for weight, space and durability, making it ideal for short-haul, long-haul, refuse and construction customers that need a larger displacement engine with reduced emissions.

"The new X15  natural gas engine provides another environmentally friendly solution for Peterbilt customers committed to sustainability and reducing their carbon footprint," says Jake Montero, Peterbilt assistant general manager, sales and marketing.

Orders are scheduled for production in the third quarter of this year.

The X15 is available with ratings up to 500 horsepower and 1,850 lb.-ft. of torque. It offers up to 10% better fuel economy compared to the ISX12N, Peterbilt says, with improved low-speed drivability and extended service intervals for reduced maintenance costs. I also meets 2024 and 2027 EPA and CARB regulations

Hydrogen Fuel Cell & BEV Survey
The following survey was sent as a link in an email cover message in February 2023 to the newsletter lists for Overdrive and CCJ. After approximately two weeks, a total of 176 owner-operators under their own authority, 113 owner-operators leased or assigned to a carrier and 82 fleet executives and 36 fleet employees from fleets with 10 or more power units had completed and submitted the questionnaire for a total of 407 qualified responses. Cross-tabulations based on respondent type are provided for each question when applicable.
