The nation’s first full-size, all-electric pickup will soon be rolling out with the nation’s best powertrain warranty.
When deliveries of Rivian’s R1T Launch Edition pickup kick off in June, they’ll come with an 8-year/175,000-mile warranty on the powertrain and battery, the best in the pickup industry.
Limited warranties will include:
- Comprehensive: The cost of all parts and labor necessary for any defective materials are covered for 5 years or 60,000 miles, whichever comes first
- Battery Pack: Coverage includes all components inside the high-voltage battery and 70% or more of the battery capacity for 8 years or 175,000 miles, whichever comes first
- Drivetrain: Coverage includes the drivetrain and components for 8 years or 175,000 miles, whichever comes first
- Corrosion (Perforation): Body panels that are perforated by corrosion will be covered for 8 years with unlimited miles
While Rivian is tops with its powertrain warranty, Nissan still reigns supreme when it comes to an all-inclusive warranty on its Titan and Titan XD pickups. Nissan’s 5-year, 100,000-mile bumper-to-bumper warranty beats Rivian’s comparable 5-year/60,000-mile comprehensive warranty.

The Rivian R1T Launch Edition, which comes standard with a 300-mile range battery, all-wheel drive and hands-free driving, stickers at $75,000. While it’s rated to tow 11,000 pounds, its impact on range is not known.
Electric vehicles have far fewer parts and much lower maintenance needs than conventional vehicles. The Ford E-Transit has "nearly 90% fewer parts in its propulsion system alone reducing the potential for expensive repairs,” Ford CEO Jim Farley said during the E-Transit reveal in November.
