ChargePoint wants small business fleets to have an affordable charging solution that makes it easier for them to go emission-free. That's exactly why it developed and has now revealed its new Level 2 charger.
Priced at just $699, the CPF50 charger is not only affordable but also allows customers to access one of the most advanced fleet and telematics software platforms, thereby helping to lower EV ownerships costs while meeting emissions goals.
Purchasing the charger also allows fleet operators to bundle it with ChargePoint's fleet management software, which offers real-time visibility of vehicle readiness, power usage, and station status. Additional tools include: energy management, control station access, and simplifying complex issues with ease by utilizing this all-in-one solution.
Another noteworthy benefit is that multiple CPF50 chargers can be managed from the platform. This enables power sharing via the cloud to reduce charging costs and optimize battery health. ChargePoint adds this can be configured with J1772 or NACS connectors, regardless of vehicle or connector type.
“ChargePoint has always been committed to making it easy for everyone to go electric, whether they be a driver, a business, or a fleet,” said Rick Wilmer, CEO of ChargePoint. “With our lowest cost charger for commercial vehicles we have a solution that makes charging more accessible for small businesses who want to electrify their fleet, or for large fleets that are focused on reducing total cost of ownership. We’re making the hardware more affordable, and when combined with our powerful fleet software platform, the offering can meet the charging needs of fleets of all sizes to optimize their savings.”
Unfortunately, Level 2 charging is not a long-term solution for heavy-duty semis, such as the Volvo VNR Electric, Nikola Tre BEV 2.0, or even the upcoming Tesla Semi and Windrose.

That solution is called Megawatt charging, where chargers are able to deliver up to 20 times the speed of current DC chargers for passenger vehicles. Commercial vehicles, including long-haulers, will have the ability to recharge in less than one hour.

ChargePoint confirms it's currently developing its own Megawatt charging system which, upon release, will also be capable of bi-directional charging and enable output of up to 3 megawatts. No launch date has been announced.
