Trova Commercial Vehicles officially launched its first product for the North American marketplace during a press conference Sunday at ATA's Technology & Maintenance Council (TMC) Annual Meeting in Nashville.
Founder and CEO Patrick Collignon, a longtime Volvo executive, was on hand to introduce the company's new electric terminal tractor, bringing what he calls a new, innovative solution to a "very stable" terminal tractor market that has long been dominated by a few diesel players.
Collignon says Trova's new tractor is built on a steel chassis and features a modular design built specifically to ease user maintenance. Telematics and remote diagnostics are standard, as is increased visibility and built-in ergonomics to maximize driver performance.
Collignon also touts the company's patented battery pack installation process and proprietary thermal management system to "enhance energy consumption," as well as its Axial Flux motors with high torque as other features that should drive superior performance and adoption.
He says the company is taking orders now and will be announcing its manufacturing location in the coming weeks. The company developed its tractor at its design shop in Fairlawn, Va.
