Tel Aviv-based REE Automotive (REE) continues to make waves in the battery-electric, medium-duty commercial truck space with its software-defined modular platform with the announcement it's the recipient of Frost & Sullivan's 2025 Company of the Year award in the North American Electric Medium-Duty Vehicle Platform Industry category.

REE's Class 4 battery-electric chassis cab, called the P7, runs on a fully drive-by-wire proprietary system called REEcorner that packages major vehicle components into the area between the chassis and wheel to enable a fully flat electric chassis end-to-end. As a result, there's upwards of 35% more interior volume for passengers, cargo, and, of course, the batteries.

“We are honored to receive Frost & Sullivan’s prestigious award, which reinforces our position as a leader in the automotive technology market,” said Daniel Barel, CEO and co-founder of REE. “This recognition validates our clear vision and technology evolution, as well as our ability to deliver industry-leading solutions that directly address today’s pressing challenges. By doing what we do best - staying focused on our proprietary technology and bringing scalable, software-defined vehicles to market - we are empowering OEMs and fleet operators with the solution they need in this rapidly evolving landscape.”

The company adds that electrified vehicles riding on the P7 chassis have the industry's lowest step-in height, are autonomous ready, and can be powered by batteries or fuel cells.

Last September, REE announced it had selected Roush Industries to assemble the P7 lineup at its Detroit, Michigan assembly plant. The P7 is now available for purchase in all 50 states. Annual output is projected to be at 5,000 vehicles. Production is currently underway.

“A major advantage REE Automotive’s customers have is that these platforms are made future-ready with REE’s Unified Architecture (RUA) merging its hardware features and software applications into one seamless operating system," added Marshall Martin, program manager of commercial mobility for Frost & Sullivan.

Hydrogen Fuel Cell & BEV Survey
The following survey was sent as a link in an email cover message in February 2023 to the newsletter lists for Overdrive and CCJ. After approximately two weeks, a total of 176 owner-operators under their own authority, 113 owner-operators leased or assigned to a carrier and 82 fleet executives and 36 fleet employees from fleets with 10 or more power units had completed and submitted the questionnaire for a total of 407 qualified responses. Cross-tabulations based on respondent type are provided for each question when applicable.
