Mercedes-Benz Trucks has announced the latest expansion of its battery-electric truck lineup with the introduction of the new eActros Lowliner, an overseas-only model specifically developed for high-volume, long-haul transport operations.
As is the case with the entire eActros lineup, this new variant will remain forbidden fruit for North America.

Designed specifically for volume-intensive freight applications, the eActros Lowliner boasts a reduced coupling height that enables the use of mega trailers while maintaining legal vehicle height limits. The configuration maximizes trailer interior space, making it particularly suitable for transporting bulky but relatively lightweight goods such as packaged consumer products.
The Lowliner is based on the technology platform of the eActros 600, which entered series production in late 2024. Mercedes-Benz Trucks has since expanded the range to include approximately 40 variants tailored to a range of payload and range requirements.
"The eActros Lowliner marks the next step in the expansion of our battery-electric long-haul portfolio," said Achim Puchert, CEO of Mercedes-Benz Trucks. "It is consistently designed for high-volume transport with mega trailers and is based on the proven technology of the eActros 600."
The new model will be offered as a 4x2 tractor unit with a 4,000-mm (157-inch) wheelbase and will be available with either two or three lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery packs. The two-pack eActros 400 Lowliner provides 414 kWh of installed battery capacity, while the three-pack eActros 600 Lowliner offers 621 kWh.
Mercedes-Benz Trucks said the Lowliner is expected to deliver a driving range comparable to the standard eActros 600, which can travel up to 500 km (~310 miles) on a single charge at a gross combination weight of 40 tons. The lighter eActros 400 Lowliner, meanwhile, offers a higher payload capacity of up to 24 tons, compared with up to 21 tons for the eActros 600 Lowliner.
Charging is supported via a CCS2 connection at up to 400 kW, with charging times from 10% to 80% taking approximately 46 minutes for the two-battery version and 70 minutes for the three-battery model. Both variants will also be compatible with megawatt charging (MCS) in the future through an optional charging interface.

The Lowliner also incorporates the OEM's electric axle technology, featuring two electric motors and a four-speed transmission. The system delivers 400 kW of continuous power and up to 600 kW peak output. Some additional features include regenerative braking, one-pedal driving functionality and Predictive Powertrain Control, which uses route, traffic and topography data to optimize energy consumption and improve operational efficiency.
The OEM confirmed the Lowliner will be available to order across the EU30 market and selected additional markets beginning in Q3 2026, with series production scheduled to begin in the second quarter of 2027 at its Worth am Rhein plant in Germany.
Further details will be unveiled at IAA Transportation this September.
