Autocar and Rocsys are partnering up to bring hands-free charging to Autocar's electric terminal tractors.

"Hands-free charging is a pivotal advancement in the electrification of commercial vehicle fleets," says Andrew Taitz, Autocar's chairman. "This collaboration underscores our commitment to staying at the forefront of EV adoption and providing our customers with a broad range of powertrain solutions to support their specific needs."

Crijn Bouman, CEO and co-founder of Rocsys, says hands-free charging streamlines charging processes and minimizes wear and tear on cables and connectors. The system uses soft robotics, computer vision technology and advanced AI to create a seamless charging process, the company says.

"Providing hands-free charging for Autocar customers means they won't have to piecemeal charging solutions together when they purchase EV trucks from us," Taitz says. "All they need will come in one package."

After approximately two weeks, a total of 176 owner-operators under their own authority, 113 owner-operators leased or assigned to a carrier and 82 fleet executives and 36 fleet employees from fleets with 10 or more power units had completed and submitted the questionnaire for a total of 407 qualified responses. Cross-tabulations based on respondent type are provided for each question when applicable.
