Greenlane, a joint venture established between Daimler Trucks North America, NextEra Energy Resources, and BlackRock, officially opened its inaugural charging site for zero-emissions freight in Colton, California earlier this week.
At the same time, it secured its first fleet customer, Nevoya, the country's first first zero-emissions electric trucking carrier and technology-driven logistics platform.

The new facility, which was built in just eight months, is located at the intersection of Interstates 215 and 10. It boasts over 40 high-speed chargers and numerous amenities such as a truck driver lounge packed with creature comforts like WiFi, food and drinks, and 24/7 customer service.

Greenlane says the site is the first of many planned for construction along the I-15 commercial EV charging corridor. Future California sites are expected pop up roughly every 60 to 90 miles in Long Beach, Barstow, and Baker.
Nevoya aims to begin operating its fleet of electric trucks out of the Colton site in early May of this year. Both companies plan to scale their partnership to include up to 100 Nevoya-provided electric trucks.
Constructing the Colton site required significant resources to support this critical freight route. For example, there's a total of 41 OEM-agnostic chargers with 12 pull-through lanes featuring CCS 400 kilowatt (kW) dual-port chargers with liquid-cooled cables designed to accommodate large Class 8 electric trucks. In addition, 29 bobtail lanes feature CCS 180 kW chargers, offering intelligent energy management for optimized fleet operations.
Another cool site feature is that it's been engineered with precast cable trenching, meaning there's future equipment expansion and upgrades available for megawatt charging as fleet demand grows.
“Opening the Colton site and bringing on a top-tier partner like Nevoya in the same week is awesome, but it also reinforces that investment in high-traffic freight corridors helps drive economic growth by supporting local businesses through increased traffic and creating quality job opportunities for municipalities that have sought this growth for years," said Patrick Macdonald-King, CEO of Greenlane. "By ensuring truckers have access to reliable, high-speed charging when and where they need it, our team is helping electrify the backbone of American commerce.”
