Canoo shifts workforce, HQ from California to Texas, Oklahoma

Canoo, an electric commercial vehicle maker, moved its engineering workforce and headquarters to Oklahoma and Texas.

Canoo moved its engineering workforce and company headquarters to Oklahoma and Texas, respectively, the company announced Monday. 

About 137 engineering positions will relocation to Oklahoma City and Pryor, Okla., from California, the electric vehicle maker says. Headquarters, effective immediately, will be in Justin, Texas. The company's leadership team has been in Texas since 2021.

Canoo, which services electric cargo vehicles, has a 500,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in Oklahoma City. It says it is actively hiring for more positions in all the new locations, with plans to expand and ramp up to 150 open positions in the near future. 

Canoo also has teams in California and Michigan.

The following survey was sent as a link in an email cover message in February 2023 to the newsletter lists for Overdrive and CCJ. After approximately two weeks, a total of 176 owner-operators under their own authority, 113 owner-operators leased or assigned to a carrier and 82 fleet executives and 36 fleet employees from fleets with 10 or more power units had completed and submitted the questionnaire for a total of 407 qualified responses. Cross-tabulations based on respondent type are provided for each question when applicable.
