InductEV, together with BetterFleet, have announced a planned expansion of their inductive wireless fleet charging collaboration in the U.S. and Canada following successful testing. The technology features Pennsylvania-based InductEV's proprietary wireless charging solution that's already been deployed in various parts of the U.S. and Europe.
These high-powered charging systems allows fleets to charge instantly and autonomously while they're in-service or in-depot. This model offers operational, economic, and environmental advantages over any other zero-emission system architecture, according to InductEV. The company has delivered more than 3 GWh of energy - the equivalent of saving 650 metric tons of CO2 - to American and European consumers so far via its wireless charging network.
The wireless charging technology integrates with BetterFleet's charging management software, which has been instrumental for over 200 fleets throughout the U.S., Canada, Australia, and the UK.
Several municipalities across the U.S. - including nine transit authorities in Washington State, Indianapolis, Kansas City, and Martha's Vineyard - have already successfully implemented this tech into their respective bus fleets.

“We are thrilled with the successful completion of interoperability testing with BetterFleet,” said Adam Halsey, head of Canadian business development at InductEV. “This achievement marks a significant step forward in the evolution of fleet charging for North American transit and commercial fleets.”
The newly completed testing confirmed communication between BetterFleet's charging software and InductEV's wireless chargers, enabling the automated vehicle authorization as they approach chargers for a seamless charging process. Testing further established advanced, smart-charging capabilities that allow for optimal load management on the grid by managing scheduling and control at the wireless charger directly.
These innovations, BetterFleet points out, enhance the overall efficiency and sustainability of fleet operations. BetterFleet was founded in Australia and has offices in the U.S., Canada, and the UK.
“As a company dedicated to best-in-class fleet management solutions, our collaboration with InductEV further underscores our commitment to providing innovative and interoperable solutions that help our customers achieve their zero-emission goals,” adds Sasha Pejcic, North America managing partner at BetterFleet.
