Bollinger Motors is on a roll. The Oak Park, Michigan-based battery-electric commercial truck manufacturer officially began customer-ready production of its B4 Chassis Cab this past week.
The event was attended by employees, suppliers, government leaders, and company founder Robert Bollinger, who looked back on the 10-year journey from idea to finished product.
“The people here today and hundreds of others who have worked with us before – I want to thank you all so much for making this happen and believing in this dream,” he said. “We’ve made an impact here in Detroit and I am proud of all the work this team has done to get to this day. We are launching a world-class electric truck that will be a leader in the commercial fleet business.”
Bollinger initially conceived his vision back in 2015 to launch all-electric pickup trucks and sport-utility vehicles. However, he and his team recognized the electric SUV and truck markets were not where they needed to be for the company to succeed, hence its 2022 decision to pivot towards development of the Class 4 B4.
“Robert Bollinger and his team made a gutsy call two years ago to pivot to an entirely different market segment,” said Bollinger Motors’ CEO Jim Taylor. “The commercial vehicle segment is ready for electrification and Bollinger Motors has developed a world-class truck that will meet the fleet needs for companies across the country. We are excited to see these vehicles roll off the line, head to dealer lots and find a home with our customers.”
Earlier this month, Bollinger confirmed B4 pricing will begin at $158,758. Combined with the already announced $40,000 IRS rebate at the federal level, California-based customers can get a total rebate of up to $100,000 in combined savings thanks to the state's HVIP's $60,000 rebate following CARB's certification.

Powered by a 158 kWh battery pack, the B4 was designed and built with input from major fleets and upfitters. It can easily be customized by fleets to meet a wide variety of requirements. Another unique feature is its unobstructed frame rails which allow for mounting and uplift adaption. The chassis was designed and engineered to protect the 800V battery pack and other vital components.
Earlier this year, Bollinger previously announced full warranty coverage for the B4, Certificate of Conformity from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and 50-, 70- and 80-vehicle unit sales to EnviroCharge, Doering Fleet Management and Momentum Group, respectively.
Several service centers and dealers have also been confirmed, including Nacarato Truck Sales, Nuss Truck & Equipment, and LaFontaine Automotive Group.
