What you need to know:

  • Kempower's new charging system supports ultra-fast EV charging up to 1.2 MW MCS and 560 kW CCS charging for heavy-duty electric transport
  • Designed for commercial EV fleet charging infrastructure, improving uptime, efficiency, and total cost of ownership (TCO)
  • Enables flexible mixed-use charging sites compatible with CCS, MCS, and 800V electric vehicles and vans
  • Built for high-power megawatt charging systems with dual connectors, long cable reach, and integration with Kempower charging networks

Global DC fast-charging specialist Kempower unveiled a new ultra-high-power charging system this week at ACT Expo 2026, designed specifically for heavy-duty electric transport.

The newly launched Kempower Mega Satellite Flex is the company's first charging dispenser capable of supporting both CCS charging at up to 560 kW and Megawatt Charging System (MCS) technology, delivering up to 1.2 MW of power.

Less powerful Kempower charging systems, capable of delivering up to 1.2 MW through MCS and 500 kW via CCS, continue to see deployment across the market, including at EV Realty's newly opened 76-port truck charging hub in Southern California.

The addition expands Kempower's portfolio with a solution aimed at significantly improving charging performance for commercial EV fleets, where minimizing downtime is essential. By enabling faster charging sessions, the Mega Satellite Flex is designed to increase vehicle availability, improve fleet efficiency, and reduce overall total cost of ownership (TCO).

The company says the system has been built with flexibility in mind, enabling fleet operators and charge point providers to support both CCS and MCS-equipped vehicles while easing the transition to higher-power charging infrastructure.

"What we've tried to do is develop expertise for folks around planning—parking, logistics, and software," said Jeb Routh, Kempower's vice president of markets and products for North America, during a conversation with Clean Trucking at ACT Expo 2026.

"None of it is rocket science, but it's new. You talk to these fleet guys who have been great at what they do for a long time, but this is a brand new thing with a lot to learn. We've built teams to help with that feedback. Most people say that if it's done right, the drivers really like these things because they're quiet."

The system also supports next-generation 800V electric cars and vans, enabling mixed-use charging sites with higher utilization rates and improved return on investment.

Key features of the Kempower Mega Satellite Flex include:

  • Up to 1,500 A MCS and 700 A CCS
  • Dual compatibility with MCS and CCS connectors
  • Cable reach of 5 meters (16.4 feet) for CCS and 2.7 meters (8.86 feet) for MCS
  • Option to integrate a payment terminal
  • Compatibility with Kempower's existing and new distributed charging systems

"As the industry accelerates toward heavy-duty electrification, Kempower understands the urgent need for reliable, flexible, and user-friendly MCS solutions," adds Kempower North America President Monil Malhotra. "At ACT Expo, we're giving a first look at the Kempower Mega Satellite Flex and showcasing how its flexibility helps charge point and logistic operators power their fleets without disruption while improving site utilization and increasing revenue."

Kempower confirmed that the Mega Satellite Flex will go on sale in North America and Europe this July.

Hydrogen Fuel Cell & BEV Survey
The following survey was sent as a link in an email cover message in February 2023 to the newsletter lists for Overdrive and CCJ. After approximately two weeks, a total of 176 owner-operators under their own authority, 113 owner-operators leased or assigned to a carrier and 82 fleet executives and 36 fleet employees from fleets with 10 or more power units had completed and submitted the questionnaire for a total of 407 qualified responses. Cross-tabulations based on respondent type are provided for each question when applicable.
