The latest example is Sagepoint Energy and its subsidiary, Sagepoint Logistics, which recently announced the purchase of 60 heavy-duty, Cummins X15N-powered Freightliner trucks. This investment accelerates the company's expansion into the for-hire dedicated carrier market and strengthens its push to scale the circular economy.
Sagepoint says it is combining its RNG production and logistics operations to control shipping costs, fuel pricing, and emissions in ways traditional carriers cannot. Furthermore, its fleet will run entirely on renewable natural gas sourced from its own facilities, giving customers a lower-carbon, turnkey shipping option. Because the fuel is fully domestic and independent of global oil markets, Sagepoint points out it can offer more stable pricing and reduce exposure to fuel volatility, especially in today's current environment.
"This investment is a pivotal step in our evolution," said Aaron Johnson, CEO of Sagepoint Energy. "We aren't just acquiring trucks; we are establishing a new model for doing business in both the energy and heavy-duty trucking markets. By pairing the most advanced engine technology in the world with our own RNG production, Sagepoint is achieving a level of vertical integration that provides our partners with unmatched reliability and environmental stewardship at a low and predictable cost. This is a defining moment for our company and a clear signal to the industry that high-performance logistics and fuel independence are now a reality."
