Santa Monica, California-based Greenlane, a Charging as a Service (CaaS) company, continues to expand its presence in the emerging public charging infrastructure industry for battery-electric commercial vehicles with its new "Charge On Us" dealership program designed to help fleets reduce costs.

The initiative offers $500 in charging credits and six months of complimentary access to the Greenlane Edge subscription for each qualifying light-, medium-, or heavy-duty electric truck sold. Velocity Truck Centers, one of North America's largest commercial vehicle dealerships, is the first to join the program.

Participating dealers gain a turnkey solution with sales support, marketing tools, and customer service, all powered by Greenlane's growing public charging network and tech platform. Dealers also receive Greenlane Edge subscriptions, allowing them to pilot trucks at Greenlane sites, simplify customer billing, and avoid expensive infrastructure installations.

The subscription package is impressive with discounted charging rates, reservation tools, real-time data, and software integrations to lower total cost of ownership, improve route planning, and streamline general electric fleet operations.

"One of the biggest challenges our customers face when considering electric trucks is figuring out charging—where to charge, how to support it, and how to pay for it all," said Scott Zeppenfeldt, COO of Velocity. "Greenlane's 'Charge On Us' program removes those hurdles by letting our customers rely on public infrastructure instead of investing time and money in their own charging setup."

Meanwhile, Greenlane has had a busy and productive year so far. Last April, it opened its flagship center in Colton, California, which boasts over 40 high-speed chargers, including 12 pull-through and 29 bobtail lanes for medium- and heavy-duty EVs.

The site also offers amenities like restrooms, Wi-Fi, carports, 24/7 security, office space, and parking. Because it's strategically located at I-215 and I-10, the site serves as a base of operations for Greenlane's I-15 corridor that stretches from L.A. to Las Vegas and the I-10 corridor. Additional sites are planned in Blythe, California and the Greater Phoenix, Arizona area.

"As more heavy-duty fleets shift to electric, we need to address the real concerns holding them back: where to charge, cost, and how to deploy charging infrastructure day one,” said Patrick Macdonald-King, CEO of Greenlane. “Our program tackles these issues by providing immediate charging credits, access to high-speed chargers and our technology ecosystem that delivers a seamless charging solution. Partnering with Velocity helps us scale that impact and make electrification easier for more companies by lowering the cost of entry and complexity of procuring power and deploying infrastructure."

Hydrogen Fuel Cell & BEV Survey
The following survey was sent as a link in an email cover message in February 2023 to the newsletter lists for Overdrive and CCJ. After approximately two weeks, a total of 176 owner-operators under their own authority, 113 owner-operators leased or assigned to a carrier and 82 fleet executives and 36 fleet employees from fleets with 10 or more power units had completed and submitted the questionnaire for a total of 407 qualified responses. Cross-tabulations based on respondent type are provided for each question when applicable.
