To help close the TCO gap with diesel, Windrose Technology today announced it will include three months of unlimited Greenlane charging for each Global E700 Class 8 battery-electric truck purchase, giving fleets immediate access to high-performance charging without a pricey (and immediate) infrastructure investment, both companies announced today.

To settle any confusion, Windrose founder and CEO Wen Han confirmed to Clean Trucking that its R700 electric semi has been renamed the Global E700 because the "updated supply chain [will enable] 80 percent [of] common parts between the various [market] versions for China, the U.S., and Europe."

Through a dedicated portal, Windrose customers will be able to unlock Greenlane charging credits for instant access to powerful medium- and heavy-duty charging, reservation and fleet management tools, and 24/7 support on key freight corridors like the I-10 and I-15.

"We're committed to making electric trucking accessible and cost-competitive for fleets," said Han. "But vehicles are only half the equation. Charging infrastructure for electric trucks is just like a high-speed cellular network is to the smartphone. Accessible high-power, high-quality, and strategically-placed charging infrastructure by Greenlane is what enables fleets to deploy at scale and at lower costs."

In testing, the Global E700 reached a 772 kW peak charge and traveled more than 400 miles on a single charge with a near-max payload, completing each route without recharging.

The partnership builds on proven interoperability demonstrated during Windrose's long-haul pilot runs on those aforementioned corridors and elsewhere.

This also isn't the first time the two companies found mutual cooperation. Last August, the pair announced Windrose will use Greenlane's Colton flagship charging hub to support pilot customers operating along the I-10 and I-15.

"Total cost of entry is the biggest decision factor for fleet operators when they are thinking about electrification," adds Patrick Macdonald-King, CEO of Greenlane. "Windrose's offer to integrate charging infrastructure directly into the vehicle purchase eliminates some of the guesswork and upfront costs that have historically slowed adoption. This partnership is about giving fleet operators a complete, ready-to-deploy solution on day one."

Hydrogen Fuel Cell & BEV Survey
The following survey was sent as a link in an email cover message in February 2023 to the newsletter lists for Overdrive and CCJ. After approximately two weeks, a total of 176 owner-operators under their own authority, 113 owner-operators leased or assigned to a carrier and 82 fleet executives and 36 fleet employees from fleets with 10 or more power units had completed and submitted the questionnaire for a total of 407 qualified responses. Cross-tabulations based on respondent type are provided for each question when applicable.
