What you need to know:

  • Zeem Solutions' LAX Depot surpassed 350,000 EV charging sessions since opening in December 2021, making it one of the busiest commercial EV charging hubs in the U.S.
  • The 24/7 LAX charging depot recorded more than 75,000 charging sessions in early 2026 while maintaining 98% charger uptime for fleets ranging from passenger EVs to Class 8 electric trucks
  • Zeem says the LAX facility has delivered more than 13 million kWh of electricity and helped avoid an estimated 5.6 million kg of CO2 emissions through large-scale fleet electrification
  • The company is using lessons learned from the high-volume LAX fleet charging operation to expand into new markets, including a major Long Beach EV truck charging depot set to open later this year

California-based Zeem Solutions announced this week at ACT Expo in Las Vegas that its Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) depot has surpassed 350,000 cumulative charging sessions since opening in December 2021.

Since its launch, Zeem's LAX depot, which Clean Trucking toured in 2025, has rapidly expanded into one of the busiest commercial EV charging hubs in the U.S., recording roughly 28,000 charging sessions during its first two years of operation. It runs 24/7, 365 days a year.

"You learn a tremendous amount from 350,000 commercial charging sessions, and those lessons have shaped Zeem 2.0 as we bring our proven model directly to customer fleet sites," said Paul Gioupis, founder and CEO of Zeem Solutions. "Five years of operating commercial EV charging at scale has taught us what drives uptime, where execution matters most, and why reliability is non-negotiable. The future of transportation depends on infrastructure that performs every day in real-world fleet operations, and Zeem is delivering that today at scale."

Zeem said charging demand at its LAX depot continues to accelerate in 2026, with the facility recording more than 75,000 charging sessions and delivering 3.2 million kWh of electricity during the first four months of this year alone. The depot's charging operations are built around scheduled charging sessions and close coordination with fleet operators, helping the site maintain 98% charger uptime while serving everything from passenger EVs to Class 8 trucks.

According to the company, many customers begin with small EV pilot programs before expanding operations over time, allowing fleets to scale charging needs without building their own infrastructure.

Zeem estimates the depot's 350,000 charging sessions have helped avoid roughly 5.6 million kg of CO2 emissions.

Looking ahead to Port of Long Beach depot

Gioupis and his team are now busy expanding with new charging depots planned for the Seattle-Tacoma and Long Beach markets, alongside additional projects nationwide.

"We have a fully built depot in Long Beach that has been waiting to be energized—one of the many 'landmines' we face in the EV industry," Gioupis told Clean Trucking at ACT Expo. "Having finally crossed that hurdle, we expect the site to be up and running by September, if not earlier. What's exciting is that we already have 140 trucks contracted there, meaning the site will see a massive load and become profitable the moment it opens."

Once completed, the new 2.7-acre facility will be located just minutes from key freight routes near the Port of Long Beach, including the Trainer terminal and the Gerald Desmond Bridge. The site is designed to provide up to 400 kW per charging port and will have the capacity to support as many as 500 vehicle charging sessions per day.

Hydrogen Fuel Cell & BEV Survey
The following survey was sent as a link in an email cover message in February 2023 to the newsletter lists for Overdrive and CCJ. After approximately two weeks, a total of 176 owner-operators under their own authority, 113 owner-operators leased or assigned to a carrier and 82 fleet executives and 36 fleet employees from fleets with 10 or more power units had completed and submitted the questionnaire for a total of 407 qualified responses. Cross-tabulations based on respondent type are provided for each question when applicable.
