Tesla has officially opened its first public Megacharger station for the Tesla Semi, marking a significant milestone in the expansion of charging infrastructure for its Class 8 electric truck.

The new facility, located in Bloomington, California, about an hour east of Los Angeles, is now available to all Tesla Semi customers. The station features six dedicated Megacharger stalls capable of delivering up to 1.2 megawatts (1,200 kW) of peak charging power, making it Tesla's most powerful public charging site for the Semi to date.

Tesla Charging announced the opening on X, confirming that the location is now operational for commercial fleet customers.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony attracted attendees from across the trucking, fleet, and charging industries. Tesla Semi Vice President of Engineering Dan Priestley was on-site to speak with guests about the company's electric truck program and the evolution of its Megacharger technology, according to posts shared by attendees on LinkedIn.

Representatives from the Electrification Coalition also participated in the event. The nonprofit has spent years advancing transportation electrification and has supported the rollout of charging infrastructure for medium- and heavy-duty commercial vehicles through programs such as the Advanced Freight Partners Group and the Port Electrification Network.

The Bloomington location sits in the heart of San Bernardino County, one of the nation's busiest freight corridors. The region serves as a critical gateway between the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach and Southern California's extensive warehouse and distribution network, making it an ideal location for high-capacity charging infrastructure serving regional freight operations.

The new site builds on Tesla's earlier Megacharger installation near Ontario International Airport, which was showcased in March. That location offered charging speeds of up to 750 kW but is no longer listed on Tesla's "Find Us" charging map. The Bloomington station represents a substantial upgrade, both in charging capacity and the number of available charging stalls.

Tesla has also been expanding charging options beyond public infrastructure. Earlier this year, the company introduced its Semi Charging for Business program, allowing fleet operators to install Megachargers directly at their own depots. The addition of public locations like Bloomington gives Tesla Semi customers greater flexibility while supporting the continued transition from diesel-powered trucks to battery-electric freight vehicles.
